Chad W. Firetag

 

Chad W. Firetag is a renowned criminal defense attorney in the state of California. He joined the Law Offices of Grech & Firetag in 2001 and quickly became a partner in the firm. He has since represented hundreds of clients on a wide range of criminal matters -- from domestic violence and drug offenses to manslaughter and murder. Mr. Firetag also has extensive experience handling cases in which the client is facing the “Three Strikes” law—arguably one of the strictest recidivist laws in the nation.

 

Before joining the firm, Mr. Firetag gained invaluable legal experience as a lawyer at the Law Office of Rutan & Tucker, LLP where he handled a number of legal matters, including inverse condemnation and First Amendment litigation. He also concurrently served the City of Laguna Beach as a city prosecutor, which contracted with Rutan & Tucker, LLP.  This experience, in addition to Mr. Firetag’s commitment and dedication to his profession, ensures that his clients receive the highest quality criminal defense to achieve the best possible outcome in their case.

 

Education / Honors

Mr. Firetag graduated cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California at Riverside in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. In 2001, he received his J.D. from the University of California at Davis where he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Environs, U.C. Davis Environmental Law Journal. During law school, Mr. Firetag was elected to the Order of the Barristers and received the American Board of Trial Advocates Student of the Year award. He was admitted to the California State Bar and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in 2001, and in 2002, the U.S. District Courts of the Southern, Northern, Eastern, and Central Districts of California.

 

As a practicing criminal defense lawyer, Mr. Firetag realizes the importance of staying current in his field and frequently attends seminars and lectures on various criminal law topics from DUI offenses to the death penalty. The innovative techniques and procedures taught at these seminars enable Mr. Firetag to be the most effective advocate for his clients.
