Knowing that a warrant exists for your arrest is very stressful. But just as stressful as that experience is, it is equally as stressful when an officer surprises you with a warrant that you did not know existed. In those circumstances, an outstanding warrant can turn a minor traffic stop into a nightmare. Many people are unaware that when a warrant goes into the system, it doesn’t come out unless a judge removes the warrant. Thus, it is possible for a person to have on their record a warrant from years ago and never have been told by the police and/or the District Attorney about the warrant.
