Grand Jury Proceedings

 

As opposed to regular criminal trials, grand jury proceedings are usually held in secret and not open to the public.  In many cases, the defendant and/or defense has no idea that a grand jury has been convened and the defendant has no right to be present at a grand jury proceeding.  There are, however, limited ways that a defendant can influence a grand jury proceeding but they are exceedingly rare.
